Southern Africa hosts some of the largest telescopes in the world, located in some of the darkest and most remote places. We provide opportunities for you to visit the sites, interact with the scientists who use the facilities and grow your understanding of the universe.

Join an Astrophysicist for an introduction to the Universe. We have telescopes, computer simulations and lots of experience explaining all things space-related. This activity usually runs in a small group at a scientists's house.

The Iziko South African Museum's unique exhibits explore Palaeontology, Archaeology, Oceanography, Zoology and more. This tour starts at the beginning of the universe - at the Astronomy exhibit - and follows the evolution of life and earth through to today.
Planetarium show included.
Hosted by a PhD Astrophysicist, this is an opportunity to view planets and constellations not visible in the evening.
We use a 6-inch tracking telescope and offer warm spaces to lie down and hot drinks. Bring your questions about Astronomy and Physics.

Visit the South African Astronomical Observatory, established in 1820. Step back in time to an era when explorers used stars to navigate to new worlds. See the largest telescope in Cape Town and understand the cutting edge Astrophysics research being carried out by scientists on the site.
Optional additions include a celestial navigation workshop, a visit to the planetarium at the South African Museum and/or night sky viewing.

Journey with a scientist to Sutherland, the location of the largest optical telescope in the southern hemisphere. Get an in-depth view of how information about the universe is obtained.
